Problems with photographing in London?

Has anyone experienced any problems or been stopped or questioned for taking photos in London because of security concerns? This is especially so if you have been using a tripod. I want to go out and take some evening shots of the christmas lights, and general low evening shots of various landmarks and just wondered if I am going to be hassled.

Any advice on what precautions to take take or what to say if questioned?
