iPhoto - what's it good for?

I'm a former PC user who's come over to the light with a new MB Pro. I have a million things to learn and haven't the time to dig into everything. Hoping folks here could give me the readers digest version of what iPhoto brings to the table.
I currently use ViewNX and Capture NX2 for my major workflow with CS2 for adding watermarks, frames, text, etc...
Curious what I can use iPhoto for...
