This is an interesting discussion.

I'd weighing up an olympus E-P1 vs a 500D. I've had 3 500ds all with faults or major dust issues, so i'm almost scared of mirror dslrs. I thought the IQ was top notch though.

i also hate pping so the E-P1 is looking mighty attractive - the JPEGs are among the best among m43 and any entry level dslr. The high iso capabilities of the E-P1 set it apart from the GF1 imo. I'm not too bothered about a high res screen or fast AF.

My dream camera:

E-P3:

gf1 CDAF AF system (it is ruddy quick and accurate, easily on par with entry level dslr speeds)
IBIS
SSWF sensor cleaning
Integrated high res EVF
olympus JPEG engine
920k dot LCD

I can but dream!
