I was talking to my boss today who has a Nikon D200 and he was telling me how he set his camera to take a photo every 5 seconds of a lightening storm when he was at the beach. I was thinking to myself "How the heck can I do that with my A550???"

The only thing I have been able to discover is that Sony appears to have left this built in feature off all of their Alphas they produced where Minolta included it previously in at least the 7D. Is this right or am I misunderstanding how to take interval photos on the Alpha system?

Is a digital remove required to take time lapse photography using the A550 or any other Alpha camera? I have seen some remotes for about 40 bucks on eBay, but I would rather not spend the money on that if the camera can do it on its own (which I do not think it can...)

Thoughts?

7D was the last camera that had it.. KM even dropped it from the KM 5D..

No worries..
There are several great controllers fo low cost on Ebay.
