Would a Nikon 24mm f/2.8 AI-s with Br-2A adapter make a very powerful macro lens? I understand that wide angle is better for reversing a lens for macro and the filter is 52mm I believe so would this work?

I generally use my 24mm f/2.8 AI reversed on a bellows (because I find it useless for normal photography but that's a whole other issue) and get all kinds of magnification. In fact, I like it better than the Canon MP-E65.

I put the BR-2 on it and stuck it on my D300 and the field of view was 10mm, so the magnification is 2.4X.

As noted, the working distance is just about the Nikon flange distance of 46.5 mm, which can cause lighting problems.
