D40 Supply & Demand

I've spent the last month reading this forum and researching DSLRs somewhat extensively. Decision made, I'm about to purchase my first DSLR, a D40. I want to buy new and thus am not interested in taking the ebay or craigslist route. That said, the D40 lists for $469.00 (give or take a few bucks) on the usual sites i.e. Amazon, B&H, Adorama, etc. Do you think the price will drop significantly as the holidays approach, or will the dwindling supplies and continued demand keep the price about where it is now?
