LX3 - foreign flashes - what works and what doesn't?
Nov 2, 2009

LX3 and foreign flashes seem to have surfaced again.

Let's make a definitive list that I can add to my LX3 flash page http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~parsog/panasonic/11-flash.html

I use Nikon SB-30 and SB-26 with no problems.

Today we now know Nissin Di28 Canon model doesn't work.

What do you use, and also what has not worked for you?

Basic test , off the camera measure the trigger contact voltage when fully ready using the mount side contact as "earth" and use a high impedance input meter such as most digital multimeters. If the voltage is down around 20 volts or lower it should be OK to use, if you see higher voltages then do not use it. Can be up to 600 volts on some old flashes.

Page on flash volts measured here... http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

Regards........... Guy
