I don't think this camera will meet your needs based on your post.

I don't think you'll ever "enjoy" this camera as its not really a P&S auto camera.

As you've learned you have to move out of the auto mode and learn a bit about ISO.

Now you're in P mode and you'll still need to worry about EV and choice of shutter speed.

I would recommend you absorb the re-stocking fee and pick a more simple camera...Panasonic, Sony, have some pretty good ones that for the most part you can get away with iAuto mode. Probably you'd save a few bucks overall even after the re-stocking fee.

If you're gonna keep the G11 you're not going to learn what you need to learn in short period of time...
