Is Ken Rockwell right or plain wrong about D40 MP, sync speed etc?

I'm still stewing about buying a DSLR now and/or waiting for a APS-C hybrid in the hopefully near future. So I had another gander at Ken Rockwell's take on the D40. Whadyallthink? Is he right to say forget about MP/resolution when comparing cameras? Is it nothing more than sales pitch to get us to part with our hard-earned money? Is the flash sync speed on the D40 better than on others? Is he just a contrarian or does he make fair points. I'm not able to judge but I'm guessing lots of folks here can. Thanks in advance.
