17-55 for 7D, or 15-85?

Has anyone tried a 17-55 on a 7D yet? I'm looking at making the upgrade, and if I'm going to sink the money into a new & improved body, thought I should also get some better glass. So would love any feedback.
Other option could be the new 15-85, although it does seem a bit too slow for my liking. As for the L lenses, the 24-70 isn't wide enough for what I'm wanting, and the 17-40 also seems a bit slow and no IS (plus the 17-55 seems to get better reviews on a crop sensor anyway).
