Help with tips for indoor portraits using only nikon sb400 flash
Oct 24, 2009

Hi All,

I have a project for class where I am to take some portraiture photos of my family having brunch tomorrow. As I am unexpectedly working today , I have had little time to review and prepare for tomorrow and would like to see if there are any quick tips that I sould remember to do to try to make the photos stand out.

Here is my setup.
1. Nikon d200
2. Nikon 18-200 vr lens (2.5 -5.6f)
3. Nikon 50mm 1.4
4. Nikon sb400 flash (which is simple flash that is able to point up)
5. Sigma 150-500 (probably too long but figured I would list it anyway).

6. I have a ttl cable for having the flash come off the shoe and can hold and point it.

I figured I would start out with the 50mm 1.4 and direct the flash upwards at a 45 degree angle.

What tips or advice could you provide?

Jeff
