SB900 overheating? (D700)

A friend and I was talking gear purchases. (what I should buy, Nikon for Weddings).
So, the usual D700, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8 VRII (if possable).

But, then was surprised when he said to be careful about the SB900 ... flash is overheating and blowing. His had to sent back his SB900 after less than 3 months.

Is this True? and is there a FIX comming?

and How do you identify that FIX before you buy?
