Have I been suckered by marketing?

Both the original 18-200 and the new version contain Nikon's second generation VR system. Wow, I actually consider myself a savvy shopper, but if what is stated above is indeed the case (no difference between the VR capability), then I have been the sucker of marketing.

If the only real difference is the cam lock, then wow, I really am a sucker. While, I do not think I am in the neighborhood of buying this lens, I always research the 'similar' areas. I still think I am closest to the 17-105 and if it has the 2nd gen VR, then I think the decision is made...
