I have an e-sata connector on the back plate of my computer. From what the manual says, I have to enable AHCI in the BIOS to activate this connector. But, to do this, you have to do this prior to installing the OS or it won't work. Changing the AHCI setting after the OS is installed cold mess up the OS. Is this correct?

To use the e-sata, I also heard that you can't just plug in and un-plug out an e-sata drive like you do for a USB device. True? Seems to defeat the purpose. Something about going into the Device Manager and disable the device before removing. Also, plugging in or un-plugging an e-sata drive when the computer is all booted up can freeze up the computer or even run the drive or motherboard. Is this true?

Thank you,
