BBC Landscape photos fuel HDR debate

Results from the Landscape Photographer of the Year competition:

have fuelled a discussion on HDR here,

with the usual camps developing. The problem in my view is not about whether PP is appropriate/allowable/inevitable.justified, but the artificiality of the results. Where is all the light on the foreground, particularly in the winner of the National Parks Award, supposed to have come from? Only a second sun could give some of these views.

But i do like the fell runners (even if stretching landscape) and Hebden Bridge in the snow.
