Archos AV 700 - OS

Hi all.
My friend gave me Archos AV 700. Small device with big screen (Epson P-5000 - smaller screen but better, much better resolution and quality)..
He is not using it any longer because..... Hard Drive crashed.
I tried to put new HDD but.... it will not work without OS (Archos OS/Firmware).
I can not even upgrade Firmware without working device (out of warranty)
Can anyone has Archos AV 700 OS?
