Frankenstein tests 7D wireless flash
Oct 2, 2009

With some help from Frankenstein and the Headless Horseman, I did some testing last night of the 7D on-board flash acting as a wireless master - about time we got that feature, 'eh?!?

Nutshell summary was that I consistently got things to work at 30 feet, but at 40 feet, nothing fired. The 7D Users Manual (page 119) was 7 Meters (23 feet), so a bit more range, but the conditions were much more ideal than during daylight - read more here - http://www.komar.org/faq/camera/canon-7d-versus-50d/wireless-flash/

It will be nice when Radio Frequency is used for control (ala Radio Popper) rather than light flashes so range becomes less of an issue and line of sight issues go away.
