Mamiya 645 Lens on Canon EOS Camera
Sep 29, 2009

Ok - here goes.

My understanding is that 31mm (APS-C 1.6), 50mm (35mm), and 90mm (645) all produce equivalent images at the same distance. So this means that there is a crop difference from APS-C(Canon) to 35mm of 1.6x and a difference from 35mm to 645 of 1.8x . If I am wrong here, then my thread might be mute.

Anyway, I have 2 Mamiya 645 lenses. I understand that with an adapter they can be used on a Canon EOS Camera. So, my questions are

1. Are there any advantages to using the Mamiya lens (Mamiya is know for good glass)?

2. Does this mean that if I use an 80mm Mamiya lens on Canon 7D that the equivalent focal length would be 80 x 1.6 x 1.8 = 230mm ?

I may be way off here and any constructive criticism is welcome.
