Viewfinder Question

I tried looking up 'Viewfinder' in the 'Learn/Glossary' section, but could not find the information I was looking for. Could someone please explain what the 'magnification' spec means? For instance, the A900 has 0.74X magnification. What does this mean? If it was 0.90X magnification or 0.92X, how would the view through the viewfinder change? Also, which current dslr has the highest spec for viewfinder magnification? Is it 'better' to have a viewfinder like the A900, which is large and bright? Or is it 'better' to have one with more 'magnification'?

Thanks in advance for any input on this subject.
