hyperfocus on Olympus EP-1 or Panasonic GF-1?

I've read some concerns about the EP-1 being slow to autofocus.

Is it possible to set the EP-1 camera on manual focus and the lens to hyperfocus setting? I've noticed these lenses do not show depth of field tick marks and distance marks. Does the LCD display distance and depth of field?

What about the Panasonic GF-1?

On my old 35mm film cameras and lenses, I would set the camera to aperture priority, select f/8 or appropriate aperture, then set the focus so it would give me a depth of field at f/8 between...say 5ft and infinite.
