Sports action question.
Sep 13, 2009

I was asked to shoot the end of a 5K race next weekend.
I have a 350D and some prime lenses. (or would a zoom lens be better?)
50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8

I am not used to shooting action sports especially at a particular ending moment where its crucial for the winner and the rest of runners after.

Do I shoot in P mode (concentrate on action and let the camera do its settings?)
or shoot in Av mode ( what settings do I use?)
and shoot in continuous drive and single focus point? (use a tripod or not?)
And do I use a higher ISO of 400 or more?

I appreciate any help (and if I need anything else for the settings that I forgot to ask) as I have one week to prepare.
