i have a pretty full set of both hard and soft Lee grads plus polarizer. obviously used mostly in outdoor landscape situations. i'm using the 2 stop (=0.6) nd soft grad about 70pct of the time when i use a grad. i also use the square polarizer a lot. my next most used grad is the twilight blend, very nice effect to saturate and darken blue sky. my thinking is that a kit of a 2 stop soft, a 2 stop hard, a twilight blend, a sunrise or coral blend, plus the polarizer, would be good 'travel' kit. get the wide angle adapter ring. watch out for flair and (it seems?) slight increase tendency of CA. keep in mind...the less you have to adjust in photoshop, the less noise and artifacts and hence less noise reduction and smoothing (with loss of detail) that will be needed.
