7D is just the wrong name

Regardless of the success (or not) of the 7D, I think it was kinda sneaky for Canon to break the model number nomenclature they've established.
When i first saw mention of the 7D, I figured that the single digit + D always meant full frame sensor.
They have consistently called their APS-C cameras 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D. And the full-framers 1D, 5D, etc. And now they change?
I want my next Canon to be a full-frame model. And I was hoping this was it...maybe a junior 5D. (Numbers ascending upward from the flagship 1Ds)
So while i may still consider it, I'm a bit disappointed in Canon. It sounds to me like a little marketing trickery.
