Here are books I had my student pick up cheap from Amazon.com You can find many of these used there.

1."How to take Good Pictures" by Kodak 1995 ISBN 0-345-39710X

2. "Creative Camera Control" by Peter Laytin 3rd Ed ISBN 0-24080426-0

3. " The Manual of PHotography" Ninth Ed ISBN 0-240 515749 This is my college photography textbook. It is pretty technical but full of useful information about the theories and ideas of photography.

4. The JOY of PHotography" by the Editors of Eastman kodak 1991 ---An old guide but a good one if you can find a copy. This is mostly an inspirational book to give you ideas and inspire your photography.

There are hundreds more great photography books. These are some of my favorites for beginners.

I try to find used versions of the newest editions when possible to save money. You can also go to you local library and they might have a plethora of photograph how to books for you to check out for free! as well!
