G9 + non Canon flash?

I have a G9 and going on an extended trip. I would like to only carry it and not my DSLR. It's picture quality is good and I like the idea of having video available. I don't use an external flash with my G9 when I am at home but would like one just for the trip. I was hoping to spend around US $100 for a flash. Does anyone know of a Canon or non-Canon flash that will work automatically with the G9? TIA.
