Well I know what I want to shoot now (I didn't know a year ago), but most people thinking of getting their first DSLR don't, and it takes them a while to really get the wide vs normal vs tele difference... So instead of buying the latest camera with a so-so lens, I'm trying to steer them towards a really good lens (first) with a good camera (second).

Because a normal lens requires no transition to another perspective, I'm leaning towards recommending a 50mm equivalent or a zoom that covers an interesting range... Olympus seems to offer both with the 12-60 or 14-54 and 25mm pancake or the Panasonic 25mm... And I'm not even considering a telephoto zoom...
