Upgrading/expanding lens collection 85 f1.2 70-200 IS?
Aug 17, 2009

Hi all,

I currently have a Canon 20D I'm using for years and am planning to upgrade it soon, probably will wait for the 1D markIV, so I'll focus on lenses first.

I currently have the 17-40 f4 which from what I've been reading is an excellent lens. I do like it a lot as well.

Furthermore I have the Canon 100-400 IS lens (have another thread with a question about this lens (shall I sell it and buy the 300 2.8 IS).

Which 2 lenses would be good to complete my lens collection.

I was thinking of the 85 f 1.2L II and maybe the 70-200 f2.8 IS. I have an 8 months old baby and beside my regular pictures would like to take out and indoor picture of her. Would de 85 f1.2L II be a good lens or would it be to slow focus wise for a small child?

Do you think the 17-40 f4 (I have), Sigma 150mm 2.8 macro (I have) and add the 85 f1.2L II, 70-200 f2.8 IS and 300 2.8 IS would pretty much allow me to shoot anything and prevent me for buying new lenses for a long time???

Appreciate your feedback.
