I just bought a Gateway SX2800-01 from BEST BUY for $429.99! It was selling in that store for $449.99 but it is available on line at J&M music and computer with free shipping for $429.99 and it is not a price protected computer so you can tell the sales person you could get it on line for $429.99 and will probably give it to you for that price. You can also get it at B&H for $439.99. Also check out the review on Cnet as they have rated it the best in the budget group and gave it a Editors Choice Award. In this price range than is nothing currently out there as good. This computer beats all its competition in the level as shown in the Cnet review.

Why buy it? Its SMALL. Its a Core 2 Quad (one of the latest chip sets on the market) with DDR3 !!! ram on a G43 Intel chip set and a Slim line model. This computer comes in at LESS than have the size of a mid tower computer. It does not come with a monitor however. There are very good monitors out there for under $270. It does come with HDMI port in the back and a Firewire port in the front (no other computer in this price has that) plus a card reader. Also comes with Vista 64B OS and in MHO everything is going to this now so you might as well jump in. Most all main line stores only carry desktops with Vista 64 bit OS now.

If you have PS CS2 Vista 64 bit will load it as a X86 and not 64 bit and it will work. If you have CS3 your fine. Aso Photoshop Element 7 is 64bit compatable but Element 6 is not. Check it out on Cnet and I hope this helps you.
