40D has bent pins why not use SD cards?

--I recently sold a 40D and the person who bought it bent a pin so now she has to try and fix it herself or send it in. This has me thinking about how easy it is to bend a pin. So I have been looking for ways to fix this and came upon a person who uses a SD card adapter for CF cards. So I am wondering how many people use these instead of CF cards? At least when you use this there is no danger of bending the pins because the adapter stays in the camera and the SD cards have no pins. Anyone here use this method and how do you like it?
