I was just about to suggest the same thing. The G10 is small and handholdable with one hand once you've set the settings where you want them, and holding a filter in one hand and the camera in the other works fine. Not for ultimate steadiness, but when you're using the polariser, it will be sunlight anyway, and shutter speeds will be long enough for that not to be a problem.

Then you can probably get the smallest, cheapest polariser you can find too.

I've employed the same technique with close-up filters to get a blurred background on G10 macro shots.
