Total Beginner - Lenses
Jul 24, 2009

I am a total beginner with digital (used manual slr for many years, etc.). Buying my 1st camera that I eventually will use for large format prints of all genres - landscape, portrait, close up nature photography. I may move up to a more sophisticated camera eventually, but now I am on a budget. Here is my question, do any point and shoot cameras (as opposed to the DSLRs) have the capacity for interchangeable lenses, and, if not, are there any that have capacity for extreme close up shots (flowers, insects, etc.)? I read the following feature while looking through specs of the Canon Powershot SX10 IS:

Focusing Range:
Normal: 1.6 ft. 50cm-infinity (W), 3.3 ft. 1m-infinity (T)
Macro: 0.39 in.-1.6 ft. 1-50cm (W)
Super macro: 0-3.9 in.
0-10cm (W)

Doesn't this mean that I can get extreme close ups without an added lens? Sorry for the stupid question but as I said...I am a total digital beginner. If not, can anyone recommend a beginner DSLR?
