Do I need Canon 50mm 1.8 AND Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 for portraits?
Jul 21, 2009

Disclaimer: I'm a photography newb, and appreciate any advice.

Currently I have a Canon 50mm 1.8 which I have loved. I am also planning to pick up a Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 macro to replace the kit lens I have. For the purpose of portrait photography, should I hold on to the 50mm, or would the Sigma lens meet my needs? Also, does anyone know if the bokeh/DOF from the Sigma would be better than the 50mm 1.8?

Thanks!

PS - No, I cannot afford an L-series lens
