Raw File Processing workflow
Jul 19, 2009

Hi sages,begging your advice/comments please.
Owned a D700 since February and i would like to know how other owners organise their workflow.
After a shoot (I only use raw) i have a look at the raw files in "Faststone" and dump all the rubbish and similar images until i'm left with good stuff i want to keep, this then gets put in its own file unaltered.
Next i copy all the files into another folder and process them all in ACR and save as a psd .Then in CS3 i do cropping and sharpening.Only then if im printing the file will i convert it to a jpg.
I know some photographers convert to a dng with an embedded raw file so to "futureproof" the files and if neccessary extract the raw file.
So here's the questions...............Am i doing it properly? When do you use Tiffs? What purpose are dng files for? What workflow do you reccommend?
Ps I shoot as reccommended by Thom , 14 bit compressed lossless.
I look foreward to your replies...............Andy
