Copystand advce needed - help me avoid the pitfalls

I'm going to give the copystand approach a try to scan in circa 3000 old family photos, I have a canon 5dmkII - so the quality should be fine - but have a few questions to get the best approach for copystand digitising
1) Is using a standard tripod and placing the photos on the floor going to work? If not is there a good cheap way of doing this - I only have one flash - 580ex - with off camera trigger - so can bounce to get light well diffused. OR should I invest in a proper copystand kit - with a lighting kit & bulbs
2) for glossy photos - how do I deal with glare?
3) What type of lense should I be using - I have no macro, but a 24-105l, 70-200l & 50mm prime - do I need to invest in a macro, or am I better off using a standard lens & leaving room around the edge to keep in the sweet spot & cropping
4) If the photographs are slightly warped - is there a way of overcoming it?
I don't want to do this twice - so if I have to invest in new kit to get it right then so be it
Thanks again
