Using a laptop as primary PC - any overheating issues?

Can any overheating issues be expected for periods of long use? I tend to do a lot of P2P file sharing so my desktop would be running for several days. But I like the idea of having a laptop and connecting a case with removable racks/drives.

Any thoughts?
