"Professional Wedding Photog" used "non-professional" equipment.

I attended a wedding over the weekend. The wedding photographer seemed to have done a fantastic job. He had an assistant that worked the bride/ groom, and a light person.
He was very tentative with the important shots, and never seemed to miss a beat.

What I found odd, was the fact that this professional wedding photographer, has a beautiful studio, with many years of wedding experience...yet his equipment consisted of a Nikon D50, 28-80 3.5-4.5D lens, and Nikon SB-800 on a bracket, and one SB-800 on a light person.

I guess he doesn't need 10K worth of equipment to get the job done.

OTOH, I'm sure some of those low light pics would have looked awesome with a faster lens on a D3 or D700.
