EF-S 55-250mm f/2.8 IS

Can any of the lens design gurus explain whether there would be any technical reason why this lens doesn't already exist??
Surely it would be a big seller?
It seems a logical path to compliment the existing EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 already available.
Or at least an EF-S equivalent to the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS that is a staple of the working pro? (EF-S 45-125mm f/2.8 would be nice?)
I really hate lenses whose aperture changes as you zoom, very annoying when shooting manual mode and wondering why the exposure keeps shifting.
Is there an existing lens that I am unaware of that would be comparable to the fictional EF-S 55-250mm f/2.8 IS i long for?
