18-200mm VR on the D700

Just wondered if anyone was using this on a regular basis at full frame on the D700?

I have tried it and it only vignettes from about 18mm (full circle) to 24mm.

After that it seems to work okay.

Combined with the excellent high ISO perormance of the D700, I was wondering if this lens would be any good as a general walkabout lens giving good VR capabilities as well.

I've just come back from a weeks holiday in Majorca and toted a 28-70mm f2.8, which got a bit heavy after a while.

I'm also thinking of buying a 20mm f2.8
