I have both the 1.4x & 2x Canon converters and the 1.4x and 2x Tamron
converters. The Canon converters are only compatible with selected L
lenses, check the compatibility chart to see what lenses they work
with. Tamron makes two 1.4x converters and two 2x converters. The
cheaper one works OK on my crop bodies but images I shoot with the 5D
are bad. The more expensive Tamron works about as good as my Canon
converter. The 2x converters degrade image quality far more than the
1.4x converters do so I rarely use the 2x converters. I think I read
here somewhere that Kenko actually makes the Tamron converters so I
would suspect similar functionality but have no experience with them.

i just got the canon 5d MK II and love it but there's one problem. the tamron SP series 1.4x teleconverter doesn't autofocus (not even AF confirmation light) on my 5d mk 2 and 100-400L + TC. the 100-400L and TC's focus works great on my canon 1d mk2. anyone else have this problem? is this true for canon and kenko TCs? just curious, is the kenko 300 pro 1.4x TC have better image quality than the tamon SP (not F series) 1.4x TC?
