How to justify a 10-22 lens
May 20, 2009

As I am not a landscape photographer (I focus on people and portraits) I wonder how to justify a 10-22 lens for my 40D where I already have a 17-55/2.8 as a generic "walk around" lens. (I use primes for the other work.)
Also I am not a professional photographer!

The reason why I am considreing to go for the ultra wide angle is a 3 week trip to Ireland this summer where I expect wide and open landscapes. The extra 7mm might be useful.

After that trip it could be that I got "caught" by this subject of landscapes, but it could also be that that will not be the case, leaving me with a "dust collecting item"

Hiring a lens might be an option as well though I doubt that I can find one for such a long period for a reasonable price.

I would appreciate your opinions
