Upgrading to from Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 to Canon 70-200 f/2.8L
May 14, 2009

I have a Canon 40D and I am debating whether to upgrade my Sigma 70-200m f/2.8 EX HSM (the I version not the II) to a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L (non IS).

With this lens I shoot mostly kids sports stuff (indoors basketball, outdoors soccer) as I am the unofficial photographer for the team.

I am wondering:

1 - Will I see a noticeable improvement in image quality?

2 - Will I see a noticeable improvement in focusing speed?

3 - What are the other advantages / disadvantages of the Canon over the Sigma.

4 - Would upgrading the the Sigma "II" version of the lens make any difference.

Thanks.
