How many extra batteries for D700?

I just bought a D700. (D2x/D3 shooter)
How many frames can I expect to get out of a battery? (Summer temperatures, occasional chimping & use of VR.)
How many extra EN-EL3e do you carry? (Per day shooting or pack for a trip.)
