4/3 format is all about image circle and mount specifications. 4/3 = 4/3" corresponding video tube diameter. It would be absolutely easy to implement a 3:2 and 16:9 sensor (or multi aspect with constant image circle) in a 4/3 camera, as the mirror would only become wider, not taller. Of course this is even easier to do in a micro 4/3 camera, such as the GH1. And as there is a true 3:2 option in the GH1 and most certrainly future Panasonic Micro4/3 models, it might actually happen that I buy into 4/3.
