Pretty sure we will eventually see much more capable video appearing in the D3 level of cameras ... they won't be the first to jump, but as kinks are worked out, yup, video will be there.

I agree with your trade off list. I, for one, certainly wouldn't make any of the trades you list ... I want environmental sealing, less noise (though I'm happy right now, E3) HDR, etc, etc. But I really don't think that ultimately we will need to make those choices.

I like your Swiss Army knife analogy (as one who cannot open a wine bottle, fix a loose screw, etc., with one, though I always think I can.) But a Leatherman ... slightly different story. Same concept, different execution. The real issue is that the Swiss Army knife is again an analog comparison ... I really think that what the digital component brings to the party is the constant ability to surprise us as to what exactly is possible.
