Firewire 400 PCIe card for 2009 Mac Pro
Apr 26, 2009

Hi all,

Just bought a 2.66 Mac Pro and I need to put a firewire 400 pci-e card to accommodate my external drives. Already using up my FW 800 ports with drives, so I'm needed to take advantage of the MP's expandability. I've been to Fry's twice buying cards that don't fit into the MP's PCI slot. The first one didn't have a space after the first 10 or so mm where the MP's board has the slot separate in two. The next one I picked up had a space there, but the first 'chunk' was too long to fit into the board's space.

All I can find online is OS compatibility for the cards from Newegg and OWC, not that they'll physically fit into the case. Has anyone here actually installed a card on their Nehalem MP's? Thanks.

Oh, and I'm not dying to spend a ton of money since these are legacy drives anyway. Trying to stay under $40 if you were able to.
