TZ4 may want to change but to what?

Hello

I am basically a holiday snapper, no pro or anything.. but i am very much into taking good pics and i do enjoy it.

I have had my Panasonic TZ4 for a while now and am possibly looking for a change, i have owned quite a few cameras over the last couple of years trying and testing to find the most comfortable and suitable one for me the TZ4 seems to fit the bill quite well. I have seen quite a plethera of new wide angle 7x opt zoom plus cameras and am wondering am i really going to notice much difference with the latest cameras and the newer technology than what i have allready got ?? my must haves are :-

5x opt zoom or more
at least a 28mm lens
fairly compact
to shoot the whole spectrum and nothing in particular.
I am not really brand loyal either.

anybodys views and opinions would be greatfully received.
