Articulated LCD ... who would like one .. yes ... no ... and why?

Although all my life i have been a DSLR user ....I must say I would love an articulated screen. For me this is simply for taking photos of families and friends without thenm knowning.

also to take street scenes quickly and less intrusively. Although they take up battery energy ... for me they would be a real boon. Its not that i would naturally use the screen, for me the camera 'automatically' is used in the traditional way.

However I feel there is a 'snobbishness' about this that sometimes says ... well if you use the LCD screen then you are somehow less serious. Personally I don't understand this and would love to hear other's views
