Digital SLR / Does video really belong ?

I personally feel that the ability to take video with a high quality digital SLR is out of place. It’s ok with point and shoot cameras but not SLR's.

Camera manufactures should simply concentrate their efforts on improving the picture taking ability of digital SLR's.

Taking video takes away from the cameras abilty to take pictures , people now seem more interested in video than actually taking pictures.

What are your thoughts , does video belong in a digital SLR ?
