Be aware. Facebook new rules on content
Feb 17, 2009

Please be aware that Facebook has changed it's rules on ownership to material you have uploaded to Facebook. Earlier terms was that any content (incl. pictures) that you uploaded to Facebook became Facebook property. However, you could remove any of your material at any time, and therefor at the same time remove the licensed ownership to Facebook.

One clausul though said that Facebook could change their rules at any time and without giving notice first.

Now that has happened. In effect Facebook now takes ownership of your material, period. Even if you remove your material, they have copies and take ownership to that material.

According to the norwegian website dinside.no this happened yesterday.

Current terms as until yesterday.

You may remove your User Content from the Site at any time. If you choose to remove your User Content, the license granted above will automatically expire, however you acknowledge that the Company may retain archived copies of your User Content.

The above part is now removed. New terms are shown below.

The following sections will survive any termination of your use of the Facebook Service: Prohibited Conduct, User Content, Your Privacy Practices, Gift Credits, Ownership; Proprietary Rights, Licenses, Submissions, User Disputes; Complaints, Indemnity, General Disclaimers, Limitation on Liability, Termination and Changes to the Facebook Service, Arbitration, Governing Law; Venue and Jurisdiction and Other.

In effect, they claim ownership to the license
