Pentax 2000 Kit Lens - How usable?

If I get a Pentax K2000, is the kit lens that come with it going to be any good?

I think I will likely be getting a 50mm f1.4 prime lens for portrait-type work, but I would also like a decent landscape lens... Is the wide end of the kit zoom going to be disappointing compared to the old SMC Super Takumar screw-mount lens I am used to working with?
